Curriculum at Summit School of the Poconos was intentionally designed as a jumping-off point from which teachers and students can explore questions and concepts at a deeper level than they may typically be capable of in a traditional classroom.
We are primarily considered a project-based school, but we are also committed to providing a comprehensive academic foundation by integrating daily instructional lessons in the areas of math and language arts. We are, at all times, primarily focused on competency-based education (rather than time-based).
STEAM—Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math—will be focal points of our project-based work.
Health, wellness, and movement are also important at Summit School of the Poconos. We focus on an overall sense of wellness as well as the correlation between movement and learning.
We are a community that embraces democracy and we recognize our responsibility to ourselves, each other, and the community that stretches beyond our school walls.
All curriculum, be it teacher-instruction or project-based, will align with the academic standards set forth by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
