Summit School of the Poconos is no longer operational, as of July 2022. All Summit team efforts are currently focused on building Summit Charter School. This site remains active to provide information about the educational model upon which the Summit Charter School is based.
Joe Farda received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business from Saint Michael’s College in Vermont. His primary school years were spent at Pocono Central Catholic, where he attended first to twelfth grades. “Pocono Central had a real sense of family, which is the same feeling I get from Summit School. My wife, Irina, and I became aware of Summit School in its first year of operation. Our son, Matthew, was struggling in the public school system. Upon visiting the school, we all knew this is where we wanted to be. Matthew is no longer anxious or frustrated.”
Joe’s family moved to the Poconos in 1952 from Yonkers, New York and invested in the resort and hospitality business. That legacy continues today with many local ventures. Joe enjoyed growing up in and around the family business, always finding it fun and interesting. He continues that involvement today with the daily management of Hideaway Hills Golf Club in Kresgeville. Joe is proud and feels fortunate to call the Poconos his native home.
In his free time, Joe enjoys all the Poconos has to offer: skiing, hiking, trail riding, biking, and boating on Lake Wallenpaupack. He also likes photography, reading, and he and Matthew enjoy running R/C cars and planes.
Joe, Irina, and Matthew live in Tannersville and their daughter, Ksenia, lives, works, and goes to school in Philadelphia.
